At Haverhill Community Care, Project Smile is one of the most special things we do. It’s about coming together as a community to make sure that no one we support feels forgotten, especially at a time of year that can be incredibly difficult for many.
Over the Christmas period, Project Smile focuses on supporting service users who may otherwise be alone or isolated, ensuring they can still enjoy the warmth, comfort, and joy that the season should bring. Thanks to the generosity of our community, staff, families, and supporters, Project Smile once again made a real difference.
This year, through raffle ticket sales and our Giving Tree, we raised enough funds to prepare 30 full Christmas dinners, complete with all the trimmings. Each meal was cooked with care and delivered with a smile, ensuring our service users could enjoy a proper Christmas meal in the comfort of their own home. Alongside this, we were also able to prepare 30 Christmas gifts for those who would otherwise have spent the day alone — small gestures that meant so much to the people receiving them.
Project Smile is about more than food or gifts. It’s about connection, kindness, and dignity. It’s about knowing someone is thinking of you, turning up for you, and taking the time to make you feel valued. Our care team played a huge role in making this happen, going above and beyond to deliver meals, share conversations, and bring genuine warmth into people’s homes.
We are incredibly proud of what Project Smile represents — a community pulling together, carers showing compassion beyond their roles, and service users feeling supported during a time that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
